The sunlight fades over the only town that Edna’s ever known in her life.
She watches from the window of a train, rickety and dodgy, bumpy and she lets out a sigh.
Just to her left is the field now covered in houses, where Charlie broke his collar when they were kids.

Now Charlie’s gone and she’s alone riding on the last train to Oldenshire.
All her life she’s dreamed of leaving. Now she’s gone.

She sold all her china to the junk store, the one’s they got when they were married.
She slept in their bed one last time. She touched the pillow where Charlie used to lay his head.
Now Edna’s leaving all that she’s known to live with her niece halfway across the country.

She dreams she stuck in the murk on the bottom of the ocean where even the fish cannot see.
Now Charlie’s gone and she’s alone riding on the last train to Oldenshire.
All her life she’s dreamed of leaving. Now she’s gone.
