Our Protagonist, Reg
04:11
|
|||
Enter our protagonist; let’s say his name is Reg.
We’ll call his wife Jeanie, and Gerard will be his cat.
Unfortunately for Reg we’ll make him a drunk,
Because that will make things much more interesting for us.
Reg walks into the room where he’s to give a toast,
His problem is that he’s already more than toasted.
Everyone’s eyes look like setting suns to him.
He opens up his mouth and says, “exhortations.”
Now Reg wakes from a dream where he’s pissing blood again.
Gerard, the cat is on his chest and he is purring.
Reg didn’t even once wonder where Jeanie might have been –
It’s been years since he’s cared about anything she did.

Leave A Line
05:11
|
|||
I want to leave a line for all of us,
I want to leave for a lifetime.
You know I have some other place to be when it’s nighttime.
Something, something about an eiderdown, then you know it’s the right time.
Wonder where she left me to go to or if she’s looking for the things she’ll find.
“There’s something you wish to leave,” she said, “But Reg, you won’t leave us no lines.”

High/Low
03:06
|
|||
Darling, where were you the other night?
Darling, don’t you want to go inside?
You’re high and I’m low, and I don’t where to go.
Jeanie, could I please be your bride?
Could you take me to another side?
You’re high and I’m low, and I don’t think that you know.
Won’t you let me ride on my own?
Will you exit the story slow?
And be sure not to leave an open door?
You’re high and I’m low, and if you left then I’d go.

I am someone who is everyone’s son.
I would like to lie to no one,
But no one is listening.
Forget about your tiny existence.
Everyone likes the things they do like,
But no one is listening.

Then She Wrote A Letter
02:15
|
|||
Never going back, yeah never going back.
Once you’re gone that’ll be that.
Fingers are on the window. No reflection on the glass.
Swathed down erroneous rats.
I’m sad, because I’m sad.
I was up all night fucken dreaming again,
Of sweat and empty doorways, clothes scattered on the floor.
When you going to leave? Or you want I should come there?
I’m an empty vessel climbing up your stairs.
I’m sad, because I’m sad.
I don’t really ever want to ever know,
See I thought I probably should’ve tried to let you go,
Before saying something I’d never say, I don’t really know.
…then she wrote a letter.

78 Candles
04:13
|
|||
I wouldn’t let me be, I wouldn’t ever sing away.
I whistled a tune in the yard, and you asked me why I did.
You wouldn’t let me be, you would’ve wanted to be free.
It was as if you stayed away.
Come on, let’s sing along, you know that you’re gone.
There are ghosts that forestall your brain and your body.
But I believe in you, no I don’t, I believe in me.
So please always let me be alone in a house without a dream,
But come and check up on me.
We all just want some reprieve, but you and I never leave.

I Ain't Me
05:46
|
|||
I ain’t lost, don’t search for me, I’ll make out.
You wait there; sometimes you’re there. I’ll make out.

Let Us Be Something Seen
02:33
|
|||
Time breaks out – plants hum forth.
You are a prophecy, I am an energy,
Likewise you are a dream, something I’d like to see.
Worshipping the earth, seeds falter from my hand,
Feeling the tepid dirt – drunk gardening at night.
Then we will be something seen and I’ll rest my hands on thee.
Dirt ‘neath my fingernails, garden’s humming a tune.
Life cackles like a song from morning ‘til dawn.
Put on your dirty clothes, and then take them back off,
Let me see you unglued, let us do what we do.
Then we will be something seen and I’ll rest my hands on thee.

The Unknown You
05:05
|
|||
Stones turn over and the sea cracks open.
You should tread on to the unknown you.
Branches bend, reach down to the ground where you will return
You should tread on to the unknown you.
